April 15th River Report

Posted by Jeff Gray on

Those of us who had the courage to venture out on the river this past week are probably still unthawing their finger tips. The sub freezing nights and barely above freezing days made for some tough conditions. The fish cared less about the temps than us, however they weren’t real thrilled about eating on top. Most of the fishing was sub surface, although there’s always a few hungry fish willing to eat a properly placed Skwala. Look for this weekend and leading into next week drastically improve. The night time temps will be warmer making for much more pleasant days and should bring more consistent dry fly action. There’s been a lot of may fly activity the last few days and the fish will start keying in on the smaller bugs. March Browns and BWO’s have been plentiful lately so don’t overlook the mayfly game. A Skwala or smaller Numora can usually get the trick done but there always that one fish who wants a small bug. Good luck out on the river, be safe and stop by the shop for last minute updates. We are open 7 days a week @ 8am.
