More Information

The Blackfoot River is known for its healthy trout populations, strong insect hatches, and classic Montana scenery. Flowing through forested canyons and open valley sections, it offers a mix of fast water, deep runs, and productive banks that are well-suited to float fishing.

Depending on the season, guided trips on the Blackfoot may focus on dry fly fishing, nymphing, or streamer fishing. The river fishes best from a drift boat or raft, allowing anglers to efficiently target banks, seams, and structure throughout the day.

The Blackfoot is a freestone river that changes character with snowmelt and seasonal flows. Early summer can bring exciting high-water opportunities, while mid-summer and fall offer classic dry fly fishing during stable conditions.
