Bitterroot River Report
All signs lead to great fishing on the Bitterroot River for the foreseeable future. Good afternoon folks, Jeff Gray here, with your updated fishing report. We are sending boats out daily and fishing has been pretty solid. The "famous" Skwala hatch appears to be arriving right on time this year. With mild temps in the upcoming forecast you can bet more and more fish will be willing to eat a big bug on top. The fishing program over the last few days has simply been to nymph in the morning with your favorite stone fly nymph, followed by a SJ worm, Bead Head PT or Jig Nymph. Fish will be in a bit faster and shallower water than we've seen over the past week. My suspicion is they are following the stone fly nymphs up into the shallows and gorging on them, eating any well presented offering. Afternoons can be spent fishing a tasty skwala pattern, covering likely holding water or add on a dropper for even more exciting fishing. Either way you can't go wrong. Stop by the shop, we have plenty of new bugs and your old favorites as well. Be safe on the water.
